Executive Order 9066, February 19, 1942

The signing of Executive Order 9066 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, authorized the secretary of war to prescribe to certain military areas along the West Coast for the force removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans. This accounted for nearly 110,000 Japanese Americans living on the West Coast to be removed and put in concentration camps across California and throughout the United States.
